Chestnut Hill Terrace
This kitchen renovation and two-story addition is set in the historic district of Chestnut Hill. There is a study and roof terrace upstairs . Downstairs, three sets of French doors wrap around the kitchen drawing in radiant daylight. When opened they instantly make the dining area feel like part of the garden. Intricate trellis work was designed to engage with the environment. Accommodations for active social lives as well as peaceful private time, this renovation and addition of a kitchen and breakfast area (with a study, solarium and terrace above) was designed to transform the rear interface of a Victorian house with its intimate private garden in a historic district in Brookline. The addition is designed as full, room-sized bay window and trellised garden pavilion that merges the indoor and outdoor experience year-round, accommodating an avid cook/homeowner’s work space within a visually composed sequence of social spaces.
The exacting coordinated design and detail to reinforce these aims was achieved with Thoughtforms careful craftmanship and follow through. Custom designed bamboo cabinetry and hardware and rigorous interior and exterior detailing enhance the bold core objectives that result.
